Our Mission

What’s in the name?

Donations to Community Reinvestment: Low Income Based Scholarships Inc. serve students
from low-income qualifying families in Arizona. We intentionally named this organization to
best explain what it is we do. K-12 students are given an opportunity to attend schools that are
best for them, in Arizona, and receive assistance through our program to ease the burden.
While we support all schools in Arizona, private schools make up about 10% of the student
population in the state.
Private schools may intend for college preparation in nature, as are public schools, but there
are also many reasons why a school assigned to a zip code, might not be the best fit for a child.
Finding those cases, is what our organization seeks through data, communication with School
Directors, and through online applications.
Our community impact and mission showcase a fierce dedication to devoting funds to serve
LMI (low/moderate income) communities, families, and students. Our funds go to 100% LMI
recipients, and that is how we are different. We rely on corporate and individual donors,
whose full donation serves as an Arizona tax write off, to grow an organization that is based on
community values, kindness, and helping our community members thrive during their school
years.
Banks are uniquely positioned to participate, and donations may be a CRA (Community
Reinvestment Act) qualifying activity. Their dedication to their communities’ needs are rated,
and made public, and there are many choices that they make to determine where their
donation dollars will aid communities.
Applicants for our program must meet qualifications that match the economic eligibility
established under the national school lunch and child nutrition acts for free or reduced-price
lunches and students whose family income does not exceed 185% of the economic eligibility
established under the national school lunch and child nutrition acts for the free or reduced
lunch programs. Children that have been in the Arizona foster system are automatically eligible
based on said requirements.

So, what’s in a name? A lot in this case!
